Title: Steam Shovel at Work
Author: Niebergall, Ernst
Description: The Atlantic steam shovel bites into the rock in a Kelleys Island quarry. Quarrying on Kelleys Island was relatively easy and economical because surface soil was thin and loose. The soil could be removed rapidly and efficiently, exposing the limestone beneath.
